Driver's Education is a 1/2 credit course that will be offered BEFORE traditional school hours at 7:15 am.  Students must have their own transportation to attend. Students will also have 1-2 in person driving experiences which will typically take place during the student's elective course.
Space in this course is limited, students will be placed on a first come first served basis, a wait list will be maintained as well.  If you get a seat in the course the instructor, Mr. Arroz will reach out to you via email with further information regarding specific dates and Google Classroom login information.
This course starts at the beginning of each quarter of the school year and usually begins on the 3rd or 4th day of the quarter.  Students do not need to have a driver's permit at the start of the coursework BUT they must have it prior to beginning the driving experiences.  Students are encouraged to obtain a driver's permit prior to beginning the course to avoid any unforeseen DMV issues.

Proposed 2025-2026 dates (subject to change if needed)
1st Quarter: August 26th - October 24th
2nd Quarter: October 28th - January 15th
3rd Quarter: January 27th - March 20th
4th Quarter: March 24th - May 29th

There is a fee for this course, fees are subject to change (please contact the school bookkeeper Jennifer Scott for current pricing prior to your student beginning the course). Payment for the course can be processed at the main office.  Even though school lunch will be provided to the entire district free of charge this year, families who would have qualified for free/reduced lunch can complete this form 2025-2026 Request for Fee Reduction or Waiver Form and send or bring it to Jennifer Scott at JScott@horrycountyschools.net for review and/or approval to determine if a free/reduced fee for the Driver’s Ed course applies. You can also pick up a hard-copy of this form in the front office.
