jolly1Varsity Head Coach: Jack Jolly is one of the original staff members of Carolina Forest High School. He is entering his 11th season as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach with a record of 161-135 at Carolina Forest and an overall record of 322-230 in 21 years of coaching baseball. Coach Jolly's teams have made the playoffs 13 out of the 21 years he has coached and 7 out of 10 years while at Carolina Forest. Jack graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1982 and Coastal Carolina University with honors in 1987, while playing baseball as a pitcher. Coach Jolly began his teaching and coaching career at Green Sea-Floyds and went to Cheraw High School after three years where he taught and coached for seven years. While at Cheraw, Coach Jollys' 1997 squad played for the State Championship. Jack has been an assistant and head coach for the North/South All Star baseball game. Jack will coach the 2010 South Carolina Select All-Star team. Coach Jolly is a member of the Fellowhship of Christian Athletes and serves on the board of directors of the SCBCA as the North/South All-Star Game Committee chairperson. Jack is happily married to Pam Jolly and they have five children, Matthew (17); Rebecca (16), Robert (14), Lucas (11), and Grace (8). Coach Jolly teaches physical education and weight training at CFHS.

Varsity Assistant Coach: Doug Soles is a native of North Carolina, he earned his B.S. degree in 1992 from UNC-Pembroke where he was a 4 year letterman on the baseball team.. Coach Soles started his teaching and coaching career in 1993 at West Columbus High School in North Carolina. Coach Soles began his teaching and coaching in South Carolina in 1996 at Green Sea-Floyds High School. In 1996 he led Green Sea-Floyds baseball team to a Region VIII championship and Lower State Championship finishing as State Runner-Ups with a record of 21-8. Coach Soles was named Region VIII Coach of the Year and The Sun News Toast of the Coast Coach of the Year in 1996. In 1997 Coach Soles moved to Atlanta, Georgia were he was the pitching coach at Riverside High School. Coach Soles then return to South Carolina were he was named the Head Coach at North Myrtle Beach High School in 1998. Coach Soles came to Carolina Forest in 2003 as an assistant coach in baseball, where he is the pitching coach. Coach Soles teaches physical education and weight training at CFHS. Doug is married to the former Michelle Grainger of Socastee and they have two children- Bayli (6) and Hayden (2)

Varsity Assistant Coach: Rocco Walsh is the son of retired Marine Corp. officer Maj. Steve Walsh & retired Naval officer Lt. Com. Sara Walsh. He was born in California but after his parents were re-stationed to Washington D.C he spent most all of his childhood in Fairfax, Va. After his parents retired from the U.S. military his sophomore year, his family moved to Myrtle Beach where he attended and graduated from local Socastee High School. Rocco was a 3 yr letterman in both football & baseball. Coach Roc attended Winagte University and played football, where he was a Defensive Back. Rocco also played baseball, where he was a catcher and center fielder. Among many individual awards, Coach Roc was most honored by being voted the team captain of both sports by his teammates his final year of competition. This will be Coach Rocs first year as part of the Carolina Forest baseball program but he is already a part of the Panther’s athletic family, as an assistant with Coach Stacey Hughes and the Lady Panthers Varsity Basketball team.

JV Coach: Chad Schildt is a native of Taneytown, Maryland. He Graduated from Francis Scott Key High School in 2002 with Honors. While at FSK, he was a 3-time All-County and Conference player, as well as a 2 time All Region and All-State in baseball. In basketball, Coach Schildt was 2-time All County and an All Conference selection. Coach Schildt played Division 1 baseball at Mount Saint Mary's University where he graduated from in 2006 with a BA in History with a minor in Education.. Schildt was one of eight freshman brought in to revitalize the Mount baseball program. His playing career at the Mount unfortunately, was plagued with two damaging injuries in back-to-back years. Schildt took this time to learn the how to build a successful program from his head coach Scott Thompson. Coach Schildt began his coaching career at his old high school, Francis Scott Key. He coached both Varsity Baseball and JV basketball. Coach Schildt inherited a 2-win baseball team and in his first year coached them to a .500 record before losing in the 2nd round of the State Playoffs. The following year Coach Schildt’s last, the Eagles went 14-7 won their Conference and lost in the Regional Final to the eventual State Champs. Coach Schildt is a teacher at CFHS and a Youth Sports Coordinator for Horry County Parks and Rec. This will be Coach Schildt’s 3rd year with the Carolina Forest baseball program, and his 2nd season as the skipper of the JV team.

Assistant JV Coach: John Helms is a native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and has lived on the Grand Strand for the last 9 years. He graduated from Elizabeth City/Northeastern High School in 1996. While attending NHS, he played four years of football, basketball and baseball. Throughout his high school career he received many accolades for both his academic and athletic performances. As a junior and senior he was awarded All-Big East Conference and All-Albemarle Area in football and baseball. Also as a senior, Coach Helms was voted Northeastern High School’s Most Athletic Male and recognized as a National Rotary Youth Scholar by the Rotarian Club in Elizabeth City. Coach Helms also played three summers of American Legion baseball for Edenton Post 40. In the fall of 1996, Coach Helms attended Wingate University where he received his BS in Parks and Recreation Administration in 2001. While attending Wingate he was a member of the Universities football program. Coach Helms has also recently graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a BS in Physical Education with a minor in Fitness. Coach Helms began his football coaching career at CFHS and CFMS in the fall of 2002 as a Varsity and B-Team assistant. In the fall of 2003 he was a Varsity football assistant at Socastee High School. Throughout his scholastic career Coach Helms was an active member of the high school and university communities by participating in many service oriented groups. Coach Helms came back to CFHS in the fall of 2009 as an intern and is currently a fulltime substitute with the Horry County School System. He resides in Garden City with his family.
