Program History

The Carolina Forest Baseball Program began in the Spring of 1998 with a Junior Varsity Team. The first Varsity season was in the Spring of 1999. Since then, the program has qualified for 7 state playoffs and won the Region VII-AAA Championship in 2003, 2006 and 2007. Also in 2003, 2006 and 2007; the team won the District VII Championship and played for the Lower State Championship. The 2003 and 2006 squads were one win away from playing for a State Championship and finished Lower State Runner-up. The 2004 and 2008 squads were Region Runner-up and played for another District Championship those seasons.

2010 Outlook

The 2009 Panther squad just missed the play-offs in their first season of 4A baseball. The 2010 Carolina Forest Panther Baseball Team will strive to make its mark in the 4A ranks as they play their second season of 4A competing in region
VI-AAAA.

The 2010 edition of the Panther baseball team will look to replace 4 departed seniors including Josh Knab, (USC Sumter) team MVP and North/South All-Star and Chris Shover, (USC Salkehatchie) team most outstanding pitcher. With 11 returning lettermen, this year’s squad will rely heavily on the leadership of its 7 seniors and a talented group juniors and sophomores that got much experience last season on the varsity level.

The strength of the 2010 team will be depth, primarily in the pitching department. The Panthers could have anywhere from 6-8 pitchers logging innings this season. The infield should be solid, returning 4 of 5 starters from last season. The outfield will have 2 of the 3 starters returning from last season.

The Panthers will participate in the IP Classic Tournament in Georgetown for the first time in school history and host the Mingo Bay Spring Break Classic this season. These two tournaments, plus a competitive non-region schedule will hopefully prepare the Panthers for the challenge of the playing in one of the toughest regions in the state and making the play-offs for the 1st time in 4A baseball.
